You can easily choose to receive notification of a web site problem by Email.

In the Wizard the second page lists all the alert options, select the Send an EMail message option and click on the adjacent Config button. A dialog is then displayed letting you enter the details of whom to Email. You can use either use Outlook/Exchange to send the EMail or the more direct SMTP method. If you have a password protected email account you will need to enter the account name and password so that SiteVigil can send the mail on your behalf.
