Site Monitoring

Configuring a web page to monitor

Scheduler - Monitoring a Page

To configure a monitored page you must enter its Internet address (e.g. and a name for it (this is used in alert messages and should describe the page). You can optionally add authentication information into a URL, this precedes the domain name and is of the form <user name>:<password>@, you need to provide this information for sites that give a 401 access forbidden error message. If the page has been previously scanned its page title will be shown.

To look at the contents of a page and set up monitors accordingly you can use the Site Vigil Analyzer utility using the Analyze button. The WhoIs button gives details about the owner of the IP address using a WhoIs lookup command.

Individual monitors can be temporarily enabled or disabled, the URL is only scanned when 'currently enabled' is selected. The following controls all you to select when and how regularly the check should be run, you can select from the existing scheduled timed or press Schedule to enter a specific time.

The checks are always run in the same order, you can select the order by changing the order of the pages, you can also choose to only run a check if the previous scan succeeds.

Each monitor can have a different way of alerting you of a problem, select the alert scheme to be used from the drop down list.

Use the tabs at the top of the property sheet to display information about the selected page monitor :Checks, Statistics, Events, Data and Archive.
